Team preview: Marist
Blue Ribbon Yearbook previews the 2005-06 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
(Information in this team report is as of October 1.)
Matt Brady's first season as head coach at Marist was really like two seasons.
In the first, the Red Foxes overcame injuries in the backcourt to take the league by surprise and race to the top of the conference with a 7-1 record. The second season was totally different. Marist lost its starting power forward to injury and center to a four-game suspension and never recovered, winning just once in 11 games after Jan. 22.
Brady, a former Saint Joseph's assistant, thinks his team will be better for having endured the difficulties it encountered in February and March.
