Mike Miller makes a return to the head coaching ranks this season, and inherits an Eastern Illinois team that has some talent.

Miller, head coach at Texas State (formerly Southwest Texas) from 1995-2000, takes over for Rick Samuels, whose contract wasn't renewed after 25 years at Eastern Illinois. Miller was associate head coach at Kansas State the last five years.

"I've said this from my very first day at Eastern Illinois: I feel very fortunate to step into a situation that is on a very solid foundation," Miller said. "They've been successful here. Their student-athletes have been successful in the classroom and on the basketball court as individuals and as teams."
