Arkansas-Little Rock has a brand new arena this year. Virtually the same can be said of its roster.

Third-year coach Steve Shields lost all five starters and most everyone else from a team that finished first in the Sun Belt's East Division for the second straight season.

UALR returns only one player, 6-2 junior guard Zack Wright (11.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg), who was a regular in the rotation. The Trojans lost 79 percent of their scoring and 85 percent of their rebounding.

"It's made for a busy recruiting season," Shields said. "I think everybody knows we're probably not going to be playing 14 or 15 guys this year. We've got one established player."

Seemingly all of Arkansas-Little Rock's new faces have come from winning programs. It's no coincidence. Shields often sees more value in a role player on a good team than the leading scorer on a bad team.
