First, you have to imagine Fred Hoiberg's excitement. He grew up in Ames, Iowa, won a state title at Ames High School, had four good years at Iowa State, played and scouted in the NBA for 15 years and got a call from Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard offering him the Iowa State head-coaching job.
