Jayhawks could turn back clock
'08 Kansas and '10 Kansas are similar, but it will come down to Sherron Collins
Bill Self had to be feeling a sense of déjà vu as he left Stillwater on Saturday.
It marked the second time in as many trips that the Kansas Jayhawks have entered Gallagher-Iba Arena ranked in the top 5 -- only to exit with a loss to an unranked Oklahoma State Cowboys team.
Self is probably trying to remember the speech he gave his team after the loss in 2008 -- because that squad responded with a 13-game streak to win the program's first NCAA title in 20 years.
Speech or no speech, the stats say a similar scenario is possible. Side by side, the 2009-10 Jayhawks don't look too different from the 2007-08 Jayhawks. By the numbers, they might actually be better.
There's a lot to like about the Jayhawks, but there are a few tripping points, and one may be named Sherron Collins. To find out how KU can repeat its run from 2008, become an ESPN Insider.
