Maybe the Hokies started reading some of their own press clippings. Maybe they were too excited about the new $21 million practice facility.

Whatever the reason, gritty, gutty Virginia Tech -- the team with the fourth most regular-season wins among all ACC teams since the league expanded five years ago -- lost its edge a bit.
