Today, we conclude our look at five on the way up with West Virginia. Monday starts our discussion of teams on the down slope with reigning Big East champion Louisville.

West Virginia Mountaineers

23-12 (NCAA first round)

One thing's for sure, the Big East won't be as deep as it was last year. The top dogs (UConn, Louisville) lost a lot in the draft and that means that teams bringing back battle-tested vets can take their shot at Villanova for the conference title. To that end, Bob Huggins' squad is suddenly buoyant in a (mostly) vacated pool.
