With a mix of savvy vets and talented freshmen, the Jayhawks could be the best around
Insider knows you're hot for hoops over the summer, so we're bringing you a closer look at five programs on the rise, five on the way down and five at a crossroads. Today, we continue our look at five on the way up with Kansas. Tomorrow: Michigan State.
Kansas Jayhawks
27-8 (NCAA Sweet Sixteen)No team got as much good news as the Jayhawks this spring. On April 13, both senior guard Sherron Collins and junior center Cole Aldrich announced they would return to KU instead of entering the NBA Draft. Ten days later, blue chip recruit Xavier Henry committed to come to Lawrence, Kan., for at least one year. As a bonus, Xavier's brother C.J. decided to transfer from Memphis. And since he redshirted last year after spending four years playing minor league baseball, he'll be eligible to suit up immediately for the Jayhawks. It's easy to see why summer has been filled with anticipation in Lawrence.
