Texas A&M endangered its lock status, while Providence has a tall order ahead
With only limited action in the major conference tournaments and no mid-major locks playing in conference championships, yesterday was a quiet day for bubble talk.
Though they preserved their NCAA dreams by hitting the snooze button in a win over Rutgers in the first round of the Big East tournament, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish received a rude awakening from West Virginia. Thanks to an alarming first half shooting performance by the Irish, in which they didn't break double-digits until 14 minutes into the game, their NCAA at-large hopes will become a dream deferred.
Aside from the Irish, there was little decisive movement. However, there were still two very interesting cases yesterday involving two teams on opposite sides of the bubble, and one bad loss may have put a one-time lock in jeopardy.
