Team preview: Howard
Blue Ribbon Yearbook previews the 2006-07 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
(Information in this team report is as of October 1.)
Howard hopes to pick up where it left off at the end of last season.
The Bison, under first-year head coach Gil Jackson, finished 7-22 but won five of its final seven games. Things seemed to start to click for Howard in the last part of the season and Jackson, a long-time assistant coach at Penn, is looking for that momentum to continue this year.
"Our players never gave up last year," Jackson said. "We played hard the whole year and were able to get some wins late in the season. We'd like to continue that this progress this year."
Jackson's young team lost a lot of close games last season, but with four starters back, he's hopeful that trend will change in 2006-07.
