When you've coached 921 games over a span of 31 years, you might pick up a few things along the way. One thing Dr. Tom Davis has learned in his days on the bench is a good point guard can take you a long way.
"When I've had good years, it's when I've had good point guard play," Davis said. Well, the fans in Des Moines could be in store for big things with 5-10 senior Al Stewart (9.8 ppg, 4.7 apg) headlining a veteran roster that includes four starters and the return of 6-5 junior Klayton Korver from injury.
"With four starters back, this is the best nucleus we've had since I've been here," said Davis, who has quietly rebuilt the program with his son, associate head coach Keno Davis, the last three years.
