Summer circuit focuses too much on individual hoopla

Summer basketball camps are exploring a "new" concept this year. After recent embarrassments on the world stage, American basketball is going back to basics. Skill instruction is making a comeback at the shoe company-sponsored camps. Nike and Reebok have committed this week to operating camps that de-emphasize freewheeling, up-and-down basketball. Instead, there will be greater emphasis on teaching fundamentals and an adherence to team play. But has it come too late to fix a broken system? Can you put a Band-Aid on a gunshot wound?
