LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Here is what I saw on the first day of the Maui Invitational:

The day's most impressive performance came from Gonzaga. The Zags showed terrific balance inside and out with Adam Morrison starring in what was a really high-level college basketball game.
Morrison scored in a variety of ways -- midrange, stepping out for 3s and finishing opportunities in transition, while J.P. Batista was dominant inside, manhandling the Maryland bigs. Derek Raivio hit some timely 3s and, maybe more important, controlled the ball and tempo in what was, at times, a chaotic game with Maryland's ability to pressure and get steals.
