Defensive end Jermaine Cunningham (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) from Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia has verbally committed to Florida.

Haubert's take: Just when Florida Gators fans were beginning to come down off the high of landing highly coveted quarterback Tim Tebow Tuesday, they got another reason to get real excited last night as Coach Meyer and his staff landed the number two rated defensive end in the country.

The athletic and explosive Jermaine Cunningham made a verbal commitment to the Gators last evening live on ESPNU. This was another huge commitment for the Gators in what has turned out to be a big last couple of weeks. It seems since their regular season has ended, the Gators have been the hottest team in the country on the recruiting trail. Cunningham is just the latest to come aboard a very talented 2006 class for Florida.
