From emigrating from the former Soviet state of Latvia to California, dreaming in Sacramento and another move to a small town in rural Missouri, Alina Voronenko's journey has been a long one. After her verbal commitment to 12th year coach Deb Patterson and the Kansas State Wildcats, that journey will continue in Manhattan, Kan.
Perhaps that journey will take Voronenko back to Europe some day, as she has expressed an interest to play professionally, even back near her old stomping grounds. This move puts her about four hours from Missouri, so trips home should be manageable. Most of her family in the United States is back in Sacramento, so proximity to home was not a major factor in picking Kansas State.
