If they were ever to invade the mainland, you'd imagine they would come armed with surfboards, flip-flops and maybe volleyballs. Instead they've come with sneakers and basketballs -- a couple items not generally associated with the island state of Hawaii.
It's hardly been an invasion -- more of an intrusion, with the climax coming last fall, when Team Aloha, a select group of girls' basketball players from Hawaii, won the Storm Swish Invitational, an NCAA evaluation tournament that will take place again this weekend in Santa Barbara, Calif.
