AKRON, Ohio -- The inaugural LeBron James Skills Academy was an outstanding event, although, as previously stated, in reality it truly was a downsized version of the former Nike All-American Camp held for many years in Indianapolis. Sixty-seven young men in all age groups actually took part in this academy, which was about half the number of last year's Nike Camp participants.
The highlight of this skills academy was the involvement of LeBron James, who not only played significant minutes with Team Arizona in an evening game on July 7 but was an outstanding instructor and role model for the players. James lectured the participants on working hard to improve their fundamentals, and when asked how many shots he took daily, James said "It's not how many shots I take, but that I must make 300 shots each practice session."
