PHILADELPHIA -- Day one at RBK U on the campus of Philadelphia University was all about the nation's top rising junior, 6-10 Renardo Sidney (Lakewood, Calif.). The sweet-shooting big man got the camp started with a bang, dropping 26 points and collecting 10 rebounds in his debut. Sidney used his great hands and agile, wide body to score at will in the paint but also titillated fans and coaches alike with his considerable range from the perimeter. He's leaving little doubt about who the top dog is in the class of 2009.
Teams at RBK U are named after Reebok's signature star athletes, and the team loaded with the most talent is, of course, named after Reebok's brightest star -- Allen Iverson. Team Iverson has not only Sidney but also the nation's top point guard, 6-2 rising senior Brandon Jennings (Los Angeles), another great guard in 5-10 Isaiah Thomas (South Kent, Conn.) and 6-7 rising junior forward Christian Watford (Trussville, Ala.). They went 2-0 the first day and are the odds on favorite to win the camp championship this week.
