After a little guidance, Dwayne Allen now excels

When watching Dwayne Allen (Fayetteville, N.C./Sanford) play football, most would imagine that the current ESPN 150 Watch List tight end has been groomed for years. When hearing him talk about important life lessons and taking advantage of opportunities, most would imagine that the gracious Allen has always led a prudent life. Astonishingly, both are far from the truth.
While scurrying along to class during the fall of his freshmen year at Terry Sanford high school, the naive 13-year old caught the eye of an important figure, varsity football coach Wayne Inman. Inman did a double-take while peering out of his small office at Allen's then 6-foot-2, well-built frame. and subsequently hauled the future star into his office.
