Jason O. Watson for ESPN.COMA little more than one week removed from his announcement for Louisville, Samardo Samuels excelled at the NBPA Camp's first day.
In the first game of the day, Samardo Samuels (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's) scored 15 points and Jordan Hamilton (Los Angeles/Dorsey) added nine, including the game-winning shot, to lead to the Spurs to a 60-59 overtime win over the Lakers.

John Carroll joined Scouts Inc. after nine years as an NBA coach, including a seven-year tenure with the Boston Celtics that concluded with a four-month stint as interim head coach in 2003-04. Before joining the NBA, Carroll spent six years as head coach at Duquesne University and seven years at Seton Hall as an assistant to head coach P.J. Carlesimo.
