Boys Club of New York Tournament, Dec. 15-16
Bronx, N.Y.
Tournament winner: Northfield Mt. Hermon
Tournament MVP: Tyrone Nash (Northfield Mt. Hermon)

What happened: This two day tournament began Friday with Notre Dame Prep (Mass.) winning its two games versus Trinity Pawling (N.Y.) and Blair Academy (N.J.), while Northfield Mt. Hermon (Mass.) beat Lawrenceville (N.J.) and the Boys Club of New York. This set up the final between the two New England Class A prep schools.

Northfield Mt. Hermon beat Notre Dame 55-54 on a free throw by senior Gary Correia with only six-tenths of a second to play. The score was tied at 54-54 with 6.7 seconds to play, and Northfield Mt Hermon inbounded the ball to Correia, who was fouled. After a timeout by Notre Dame to ice him, he calmly stepped to the line and made the first shot to put his team ahead and missed the second shot on purpose.
