2006 had the makings of a big year for Mike Ragone, the two-way star at Camden Catholic High in New Jersey. Following his junior season, the ESPN 150 tight end had plenty of interest, but just one offer, from in-state Rutgers.

After a trip to Notre Dame in January for a junior day, he received an off there and then things started to pick up. The Fighting Irish offered Ragone, and soon after so did many other schools.

Then, in mid-March during a wrestling match, Ragone tore the ACL in his right knee. Before the injury, Ragone, like most young people, thought he was invincible.
