The Carolinas are one of the best recruiting areas in the nation, but on its own the state of North Carolina holds up pretty well, as well. The Tar Heel state may have a reputation for its love of basketball, but the love for football is just as fierce and the talent here is strong and on the upswing.
Since the 2006 class, the state has produced a very respectable 24 ESPNU 150 prospects. There is also usually plenty of upper-tier talent available along with good depth and the 2010 class is a good example of that. The state boasts four ESPNU 150 prospects this year, including athlete Keenan Allen (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford), but is also home to five other four-star prospects and a long list of talented three-star prospects like athletes P.J. Clyburn (Statesville, N.C./West Iredell) and Anthony Creecy (Durham, N.C./Southern Durham).
To learn who is the top player in North Carolina, a name to remember who might not be the highest-rated prospect and which programs are doing the best job of recruiting this year, become an ESPN Insider.
