ESPN College Football Recruiting

The state of Kentucky has long been known as a basketball state and there is nothing to dispel that belief, at least in the near future. However, the good news is that the number of colleges and universities in the state playing football has increased in recent years. Even though the state is not a hotbed for recruiting talent, Kentucky high schools have produced some very good players over the years.

The crop of Kentucky's football talent in 2010 is slightly less impressive than last year. Just like last year, there are eight three-star players, but unlike last year's recruiting class, there are no four-star athletes. Defensive back Justin Green, the top player in the state in 2009 and the only four-star, provided some drama just prior to signing day by switching from Ohio State to the University of Illinois. Offensive linemen and running backs are the position groups that stand out in the Bluegrass State in 2010, but this year the top player is staying at home.
