NBA embracing advanced statistics

Every year when we arrive at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, reporters immediately open up the list of attendees and begin counting NBA teams. Using both hands and both feet wasn't sufficient to count all the way to this year's total -- 29 of the 30 teams had at least one representative in attendance. The only exception? The Los Angeles Lakers.
