Editor's note: This is Insider's weekly series that identifies and analyzes tendencies or trends exhibited by five players.

In James Harden's three seasons as the top reserve on the Oklahoma City Thunder, it became readily apparent that he had the ability to become a dynamic scorer in this league.

That being said, it would have been hard to imagine him putting up more than 25 points a game on a nightly basis like he is with Houston this season. Did anyone see that coming?

You might have if you were one of the few who paid close attention to the one stat in which Harden excels as much as anyone in the league today. What stat might that be? In our TrendWatch this week, we'll delve deeper into that as we examine the rise of the Rockets' bearded sensation.

Other trending topics this week include: Damian Lillard's success in isolation plays, O.J. Mayo's rising assist rate, Metta World Peace's sudden emphasis on the 3-pointer and Jared Sullinger's reverence for the rebound.
