Who is best in the West?
Four former NBA coaches weigh in on four topics around the league
Insider once again presents "Coaches Corner," a panel discussion with a collection of ESPN's former NBA coaches that tackles some of the current topics in the NBA. Every two weeks, we'll gather four from our roster of coaches that includes Hubie Brown, Doug Collins, P.J. Carlesimo, Avery Johnson, George Karl and Jeff Van Gundy.
We asked four coaches four questions, and here's what they had to say:
Q: Which team is really the West's best?
Hubie Brown: With one-third of the season almost done, it's kind of a toss-up between the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Portland Trail Blazers. Some of the W-L records are bloated because the East is so weak this season. How many of those wins were against above-.500 teams? To me it depends on how you evaluate the road wins. Both San Antonio and Portland are 12-3 on the road, Oklahoma City is 8-4, but OKC's schedule has been very tough. I'd still say San Antonio has the edge with Oklahoma City second.
