Finally, we're on to Round 2 of the playoffs, and that means an intriguing matchup between the Sonics and Spurs out West.

Oh, were you expecting the Nuggets and Kings?

Despite impressive regular seasons, the Spurs and Sonics struggled to get respect entering the first round of the playoffs. In San Antonio's case, the fears were a result of Tim Duncan's ankle injury and the scorching-hot finish of its first-round opponent, Denver. For Seattle, some analysts weren't completely sold despite the Sonics' 50-win season. They suspected an experienced team like Sacramento could take them out in the first round.

To the surprise of many, both Seattle and San Antonio passed their first test with flying colors. Duncan's ankle gradually improved as the Spurs dispatched the Nuggets in five games, while the Sonics capitalized on an unforeseen explosion from Jerome James to send off Sacramento in five.

While most regard San Antonio as a clear favorite, the Sonics have some advantages working in their favor. Look at the season series for instance. The record says 2-2, but what it doesn't show is that Seattle won both games in which each team was at full strength. One defeat came when Rashard Lewis was on the shelf, while Ray Allen sat out in the other.

Hence, we could end up with a much longer, more competitive series than some imagine. With that in mind, let's tackle a few questions about the combatants.
