NBA Insiders Amin Elhassan and Bradford Doolittle break down the draft profile, needs and potential picks of the 14 teams eligible for the NBA draft lottery this year. With some help from Chad Ford's Big Board of top 30 prospects, we take a look at the Denver Nuggets.
Personnel needs: Shooting guard
Major need: In the first year after former coach George Karl and general manager Masai Ujiri, the Nuggets took major steps back on both ends of the floor and in the win column. Injuries played a large part in the disappointing season, with Danilo Gallinari sitting out the entire campaign and JaVale McGee limited to just five games. Nevertheless, it was a bitter season for a franchise coming off its best-ever regular season. The good news is that with high-level success so recent in Denver's past, the talent cupboard is far from bare. A miraculous outcome on lottery night could propel the Nuggets up the ladder pretty quickly. Even without that, a return to playoff contention is a near certainty provided Brian Shaw gets to coach something close to a healthy roster.
