Betting Henderson vs. Pettis 2
Finding the value in the main event at UFC 164 and other bouts
UFC 164 will feature the rematch of a fight that showcased arguably one of the most famous highlights in MMA history when current UFC champion Benson Henderson defends his lightweight belt against Anthony Pettis. On Saturday night, fans will find out whether Pettis' uncanny off-the-fence "Showtime kick" was a one-in-a-million shot or whether he has the key to Henderson's seemingly flawless style.
The card also will feature submission specialist veterans Josh Barnett and Frank Mir, as well as two of the top featherweights in Chad Mendes and Clay Guida. We'll take a look at the odds and stats behind the fights to find value for UFC 164.
Benson Henderson (minus-120) vs. Anthony Pettis (plus-100)
During their first fight, it was the leg kick heard 'round the world when Pettis stole the fifth round against then-WEC lightweight champ Henderson, leading to a Pettis unanimous-decision victory. But while most remember the strike that led the highlight reel, few remember just how effective Pettis actually was overall in that bout, and how he was able to counteract Henderson's biggest strengths.
