Selecting Clayton Kershaw with the seventh pick of the 2006 draft is one decision the Dodgers should be very happy with. Kershaw has given the Dodgers 66 wins and a 2.70 ERA in 164 starts and just turned 25 years old during spring training.

Now a year-and-a-half away from hitting free agency, the bargain years of Kershaw's contract are over, and the Dodgers have reportedly approached him about a contract extension. To keep the nastiest curveball in baseball being thrown by a pitcher wearing Dodger Blue, the club is going to have to keep that money spigot flowing. The cost of keeping Kershaw will almost certainly be the richest contract a pitcher has ever signed.
