After a year of persistent David Price trade rumors, the Tampa Bay Rays finally pulled the trigger Thursday, sending Price to the Detroit Tigers in a three-team swap that also involved the Seattle Mariners. In many quarters, the trade of Price was disappointing for the Rays, given that they didn't land any mega-prospects. While it's true that there's nobody involved in the trade with the upside of an Addison Russell, the Rays still received significant value for Price. It's just not of the flashy variety.
While the deal might not have been flashy, the Tampa Bay Rays still did well to acquire Drew Smyly and Nick Franklin at the trade deadline.
