Tigers' rotation, Yanks' lineup rate the best

Whether it's a reflection of the increased parity in baseball, or just the result of a series of unusual events, the 2006 postseason stacks up as one of the most intriguing in many years.

True, there is not likely to be any red-letter story line to match the Red Sox's climbing out of a three-game hole to beat the Yankees in the ALCS before winning it all two years ago. Or the White Sox's surprising everyone by taking the world championship last year. Or even the star-crossed Cubs' being victimized by an eager fan in the 2003 NLCS.

Every team left standing this October has had to cope with serious problems, and no team looks invincible. So the action is certain to be surprising and unpredictable, with the kinds of delicious twists and turns that fans love and hate.
