Giants rewarded for replacing Pat Burrell with Nate Schierholtz in seventh inning
In any close game, there are going to be a number of plays that could have swung the outcome in the other direction. If Ian Kinsler's fifth-inning double had bounced the other way when it hit the top of the fence, the Rangers would have gotten on the scoreboard first and the game might have turned out differently. Had either Nelson Cruz or Kinsler been able to come up with a base hit with two men in scoring position in the sixth inning, perhaps the two teams would still be playing. While those were certainly game-changing results, there was another play that flew under the radar that also was critical to the Giants' victory.
