Vernon Wells' mega-deal is making it even harder for the Blue Jays to compete

At the conclusion of the 2003 season, it was pretty hard for Blue Jays fans not to be fired up about the future of Vernon Wells. After all, he had just concluded a season that compared favorably with some of baseball's all-time greats.
