Oakland owns August
The Oakland Athletics are doing it again. Are they the best August team of all time? Rob Neyer thinks so.

Oops! They're doing it again.
The Oakland Athletics, I mean. Seems like the same thing happens every August. They're just sort of rolling along, playing well but not particularly well. And then there's that flurry of trades at the end of July, and boom the A's start winning, and more often than not they play so well in August they wind up in the playoffs.
Here are Oakland's last six Augusts (including this one):
