Don't be surprised by the ups and downs
The AL West and NL East are down this year, and the NL West is improved. Such is the way of the baseball world.

News Item: In 2005, all five National League East teams finished the season at .500 or better and only one NL West team finished better than .500 (and not by much).
News Item: In 2006, only one American League West team is better than .500, only two NL East teams are better than .500 ... and only one NL West team is worse than .500.
Question: Should we be surprised?
