D-Backs, Halos, Dodgers loaded with prospects

Last year wasn't a good one for West Coast baseball. Among the nine teams in the two West divisions, only the Angels won more than 88 games; only the Angels, the A's and the Padres won more than they lost.

It wasn't supposed to be that way. With all those big markets and all those new ballparks in the American and National League Wests, those divisions were supposed to join the Easts in crushing the (relatively) small-market teams in the middle of the country.

Watch out for the Wests, though. The prospect books are out, and there's a consensus: The Diamondbacks, the Angels and (especially) the Dodgers are loaded with fine young players.
