Royals need to trade Joakim Soria
Why Kansas City should trade its star closer right now
While Joakim Soria has toiled in relative obscurity for a losing team in Kansas City, his effectiveness and catchy nickname -- "The Mexecutioner" -- have garnered him enough recognition that most baseball fans realize he's one of the best closers in the game. However, there is probably something you don't know about Soria: He's been the best reliever in the clutch over the last three years.
While he might not have Mariano Rivera's postseason pedigree, Soria has more than proven himself by keeping the few leads the Royals have been able to give him over the years. While some closers rack up cheap saves by protecting three-run cushions then wilt under the pressure of holding a one-run lead, Soria has upped his game when every pitch is a potential game-changer.
To read more about how dominant Joakim Soria is and why the Royals should trade him now, you must be an ESPN Insider.
