New York's ace is already declining and would help the team's future by leaving

When CC Sabathia reported to Tampa for the start of spring training this week, he stirred up some news with comments that he will consider using the opt-out clause in his contract at the end of the season. With Cliff Lee in Philadelphia and Andy Pettitte retired, the last thing New York Yankees fans wanted to hear was that they might lose their ace next winter. However, by taking a closer look at Sabathia's career arc, we can see that the Yankees should actually be rooting for Sabathia to exercise his option and become a free agent.
