Jaramillo sees something in Sosa

As the Texas Rangers closed in on a minor league deal with Sammy Sosa, general manager Jon Daniels cited Sosa's contributions to the game and the inherent fairness in giving the former home run champion a second chance.
The comments sounded almost heartwarming in a business known for kicking its tarnished icons to the curb.
Daniels also characterized Sosa as "hungry and somewhat humbled" by events of the past two years. To those who remember Sosa at the peak of his self-absorbed phase, referring to Sammy as "humbled" is like raving about the improved gas mileage in the latest version of the Hummer.
