There is one thing we can all agree upon about this year's trading deadline:

Never have so much time, energy, cell-phone minutes, air time, newsprint and cyberspace sectors been expended on so little.

So here's the question: If baseball moved back the deadline to Aug. 15 or Aug. 31, wouldn't that work better for everyone?
