Most things work out roughly the way we think they will. I don't know if it's 51 percent of the things, or 91 percent, or somewhere in the middle. But I know it's most of them. It does, of course, take time for things to work out as we expected. Remember early April, when we were wondering what was wrong with Mariano Rivera? Since April 6, Rivera's posted a 0.55 ERA while converting 20 straight save chances. Remember late May, when we were concerned about Manny Ramirez's batting average? On May 27, Ramirez went zero for four, which dropped his average to .224. Since then, he's batted .333.
The Yankees and Red Sox have performed roughly as we should have expected.
