With fans casting their ballots early and often for the 2005 All-Star extravaganza in Detroit, it's time to take a look beyond this season to see which young players are on the verge of becoming All-Stars.

Here are snapshots of two dozen incipient stars in their 20s, shown alphabetically. Note that the 2004 Rookie of the Year award winners, Bobby Crosby in the AL and Jason Bay in the NL, are not included. Nor is any player who has been an All-Star in the past or who is currently among the top five in voting (e.g., Mark Teixeira, Cesar Izturis and David Wright) at his position this year.
