Since Thursday is always the calm before the storm, let's take a look at the best matchups of the weekend, starting with right-hander Anthony Ranaudo, who is expected to throw 100 or more pitches for the first time this season when LSU hosts Alabama Friday. Ranaudo, a potential top-5 pick, missed five weeks of the season with a sore elbow but threw 86 pitches last week. He may have an easy time versus the offensively-challenged Tide, who rank between the middle and the bottom of the SEC in the most important offensive categories, including homers (12th with 23) and slugging percentage (12th at .435).
