Eight logical All-Star substitutions

I have a confession to make: I never watch the All-Star Game. I don't think I've watched a full one since I got out of college. It's just an exhibition game, and with players cycling in and out almost at random, not to mention an introduction ceremony that gives you time to read Proust in the original French, it has never held my interest.

More interesting to me is the selection process and the bizarre and sometimes aggravating choices made, sometimes to fulfill the every-team-gets-one requirement (more on that later), sometimes due to the managers picking their own guys over better alternatives, and sometimes because the perception of a player trumps the reality.

If I was setting the rosters, here are eight substitutions I'd make to the ones announced Sunday night on ESPN.
