Bracket Projection: Ohio State
With Deshaun Thomas and a stellar D, the Buckeyes are a Final Four sleeper
The Ohio State Buckeyes figure to be a tough tenant to evict from Bracketville this March. They play killer defense and have an absolute scoring machine in junior Deshaun Thomas. While there's no doubting Thomas, can his teammates provide enough scoring support for OSU to make a deep foray in this year's tournament?
ESPN Insider has your answers, as Joe Lunardi has enlisted a team of Bracketologists to compile advanced metrics, key scouting intel and best- and worst-case tournament scenarios for all 68 teams, in order to help you make smart picks in your bracket. Plus, as Lunardi fills out his bracket, he'll give you his prediction on how each team will fare.
Can't say I agree with pairing the lowest No. 1 seed (Gonzaga) with Ohio State, the lowest No. 2 seed. Yet the committee may look good if my bracket comes true, as the West is the only region in which I have the two top seeds advancing. The Buckeyes earned their spot with an impressive Big Ten tournament victory, and I see them beating Notre Dame and New Mexico before an Elite Eight loss.
Best wins: Washington, Michigan, Michigan State, at Indiana
Worst losses: at Illinois by 19 points, at Wisconsin by 22
