Bracket Projection: Miami (Fla.)
The Hurricanes are balanced, but do they have enough depth to contend?
The Miami Hurricanes -- "the U" -- aren't just about football anymore. The Canes have thrived under the able leadership of Jim Larranaga, a numbers-driven guy using metrics to build one of the nation's best teams. Do the numbers add up for the Canes to reach the Final Four?
ESPN Insider has your answers, as Joe Lunardi has enlisted a team of Bracketologists to compile advanced metrics, key scouting intel and best- and worst-case tournament scenarios for all 68 teams to help you make smart picks in your bracket. Plus, as Lunardi fills out his bracket, he'll give you his prediction on how each team will fare.
I expected Miami to be in Gonzaga's region and have less of a juggernaut as their potential one-seed obstacle. Instead, the Hurricanes will need to beat Indiana or have someone knock off the Hoosiers. I think Syracuse can do so in the Sweet 16, opening a path for Jim Larranaga to take yet another underdog school to the Final Four. The Hurricanes are good enough and they are battle-tested.
Best wins: Michigan State, La Salle, at North Carolina, Duke by 27 points, North Carolina by 26
Worst losses: at Florida Gulf Coast, Indiana State, at Wake Forest, at Georgia Tech
