2012-13: 10-22 (4-14 SEC)
In-conference offense: 0.86 points per possession (14th)
In-conference defense: 1.08 points allowed per possession (14th)
Rick Ray inherited just two players from what had been a perfectly respectable 8-8 SEC team in 2011-12, and both of those guys -- Wendell Lewis and Jalen Steele -- went down with knee injuries. The players that remained were young and overmatched, and it showed. Mississippi State was outscored by 0.22 points per possession in what at the time was the weakest of the six major conferences. Even by the standard of last-place teams in major conferences, MSU was aberrantly bad in 2012-13.
