Preview: Toledo Rockets
Veteran Rockets could make MAC tourney run with improved defense
2012-13: 15-13 (10-6 MAC), ineligible for postseason due to APR
In-conference offense: 1.03 points per possession (5th)
In-conference defense: 1.02 points allowed per possession (7th)
Coach Tod Kowalczyk returns four of his top seven players in terms of minutes played. The most important is 6-foot-4 senior wing Rian Pearson, who has led the Rockets in scoring, rebounding and steals in each of the past two seasons. Pearson has been a focal point of the offense since following Kowalczyk from Green Bay. He doesn't shoot all that well, but he can finish around the basket, gets to the free throw line and handles a high volume of possessions without turning the ball over.
